Question 1 — Observation
Look carefully at GriffinWill's birthday table, his family, friends, cake, and presents. What physical things in the room changed when we moved the slider from Gloom to Joy?
Answer: Absolutely nothing! The presents, cake, people, and celebration were 100% identical.
Question 2 — Heart Check
At 0% Gloom, GriffinWill had all the same presents, cake, and loving family around him. Why was he completely miserable?
Discussion: He was focusing on what was missing or complaining, instead of noticing what was right in front of him.
Question 3 — The Big Discovery
If nothing on the outside changed, what changed on the inside to take him all the way to 100% Joy? What is the word for choosing to see, appreciate, and be thankful for the good around us?
Prompt: Gratitude! It wasn't the room that changed—it was his eyes and heart.
The Key Principle
"It isn't what is on the table that makes us happy — it is how our heart sees what is already there."
